I’m back in the saddle again, once more riding that wild stallion called freelancing. I spent the last eight months working with ID Branding, which has been awesome, but I am stoked to get back in the game.
Starting on 9.20.08, my doors, phone lines and email Internet tubes will be open. Let’s get together, my place or yours, and solve the world’s problems one verb, adjective or noun at a time.
Please check out my many writing flavors in the portfolio pages above, and then peep what my partners at www.wtmworldwide.com are up to. We’re a collective of writers, designers, web ninjas, photographers and social media mavens ready to pounce on any challenge that comes our way.
Here is a recent KATU story about Wes Rhodes, the man who stole over $20 million dollars from his investors. Included on his list of victims were my own parents, whose hard-earned retirement funds were taken and spent on Ferraris, sports memorabilia, fur coats and diamond rings. Once again, Wes’ lawyers have delayed his sentence hearing and are now hinting at retracting his 13-month old guilty plea which could mean another 3-4 years before justice is found.
Our court system sees this as a white-collar crime, and allows Wes to live free while this is going on, despite the fact that 5 people are already dead as a result of his heinous crimes.
This man was once a family friend, having the nerve to call me ‘like a son’ while ripping off my parents money. He was at my college graduation and my wedding. The pain he has caused his victims should have landed his ass in jail years ago.
Wes, if you ever read this, I hope you never sleep another wink and that the guilt of your actions torments you forever. Delay it as you will, but you will be behind bars soon enough. Justice will be served.
Well, actually, it has been raining quite a bit here in P-Town lately. But, this post is not about the weather. Although I am not sure exactly when the site went up, I just discovered that the site Banfield - The Pet Hospital that I wrote copy for about a year ago is live online.
A busy schedule and communication barriers caused the project to end without much contact with the client, something I try hard to avoid in all my work engagements. All in all though, I am pretty proud of the project. A nod to Leslie Brown, our girl in Italy, for the nice, clean design. This was a project I did with eROI, so big up to them too.

Now, at age 27, I am realizing just how awesome my older brother, Tom, is. Sure, he has had his moments in the past. He was the definition of computer nerd back before being one was even remotely cool. He went to prom in drag and defiled that sacred ceremony of the jocks and yuppie spawn. He even had the kindness and compassion to spare human-kind despite direct orders from his spiritual father (Satan). He wore all black, including a black trench-coat, before the “trench-coat mafia” was overrun by whining, pre-emo crybabies. He also started two companies, giving the man a big ‘up yours’ by not wasting his supreme computer talents in working for someone else’s profit. All of these things are enough to make him a hero.
However, only now, after witnessing him grace the stage with such presence and control in the latest performance of the Portland Actors Conservatory, have I fully realized my deep admiration for my elder bro. As the lead in “The Hiding Place”, my bro, Tom, made me proud to share with him a common name. Just seeing him in his element, a place where others could also be captivated by his genius and grace, moved me deeply.
Thanks bro. Thanks for being you.
(PS-The pic is not from “The Hiding Place.” It is of Tom being a clown during a showcase.)
This time, I have a site that is pure awesome. Much to my friends’ and wife’s chagrin, I have been spending hours looking up fonts on this site and drooling over the most yummy ones. Many are absolutely free. Practically all are downloadable. If you are a font nerd like me, you won’t be disappointed. In fact, I have now pitched an ad concept based entirely on type, inspired by the gems found on this site. Check out Walk Around the Block and Engravers Initials. Radicool.
Found some neat free downloadable fonts. I was able to get some of them to work but others may need a sign up or a fee. Still, if you have the urge to check these out, and you are a complete geek like myself, you might find some of these up your alley.
So, the great (apparently) Ronald Reagan knew it all along. Why didn’t all those Reagan-ophiles listen to their great prophet back in the ’80s before voting the worst president in history into office?
This is an is an actual quote that Reagan wrote about George “W” in his REAGAN DIARIES. . . recently edited by author Doug Brinkley and published by Harper Collins.
“A moment I’ve been dreading. George brought his n’er-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida; the one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I’ll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they’ll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work.”
From the REAGAN DIARIES——entry dated May 17, 1986.
Accounting firm Perkins & Co. has finally launched its new site, complete with copy written by moi. Nice. The site looks great, and apparently, they are already getting some rave reviews about the words. Very nice.
Big up to Perkins for getting launched. They have been a blast to work with. Also, shot out to eROI with the design. That’s my man Todd Q., rocking the free world.
Other than the site copy, I came up with a tagline, some print ads and brand book copy. Nice. Nice. Nice.
